ACMF 2023 | Program Session 1
Albury Chamber Music Festival ’23
17 – 19 November 2023
“Favourite Things”
Friday 17 November - Session 1
We have gathered some of our favourite artists and compositions including works by ten Australian composers. Your festival pass gives you access to ten exceptional performances at the exclusive Albury Club, St Matthew’s Church and in the exquisite Adamshurst ballroom. It also includes a sumptuous three-course dinner (valued at $100) at the legendary Gala performance. We will host whimsical Claudia Rubinstein as our artist in residence and our living legend the extraordinary milliner Phillip Rhodes. There will be lots of other little surprises, pop-up performances and our festival dessert, “crisp apple strudel”. And if you come on your own, no worries, we can pretty much guarantee that you will leave Albury with a couple of new musical friends!
“Bright Copper Kettles” Session 1, Performance 1, Carmina Burana
St. Matthew’s Church
Friday, 17 November, 2:00pm–3:15pm
We are opening the festival with a bang! Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana is a collection of mostly satirical songs sung in Latin and Middle-high German. Recent research suggests that they were written in Seckau Abbey, Austria, where Mario grew up. No wonder Carmina is one of his “favourite things”.

Last year we had a seductive gypsy named Carmen, Kate Bush, a garden hose, and a xylophonist in his Lederhosen.
