Ooh là là! begins at St Matthew's with one of the most beloved works in the choral repertoire: Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.
Gentle, luminous and deeply consoling, this is a Requiem unlike any other. In its chamber form, every colour and detail comes into focus—from the stillness of the Pie Jesu to the radiant peace of In Paradisum.
Soprano Greta Claringbould and bass Andrew Fysh join local chamber choir Lux Alba and guests, the Festival Orchestra and conductor Mario Dobernig for an opening performance that will set the tone for the entire weekend.
A perfect beginning to three days of extraordinary music across some of Albury’s most exquisite settings.

Some of the best stories in opera happen long before the curtain rises.
For more than forty years, Stuart Maunder AM has been at the heart of opera and musical theatre in Australia and beyond—as a director, artistic leader and passionate champion of Gilbert and Sullivan.
This November, Stuart joins us for two very different Festival encounters.
At the Regent Cinema, he will take us behind the scenes of the operatic stage, sharing stories of performers, productions and the director’s craft with Sally-Anne Russell and Mario Dobernig.
Then, at Adamshurst, he joins pianist Anne-Maree McDonald for a cabaret celebration of the songs and world of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Daniel de Borah is recognised as one of Australia’s foremost pianists, admired for performances of remarkable grace, finesse and imaginative intelligence.
This November, he joins us for a recital celebrating two composers who found their artistic home in France.
In Nearly French, Daniel performs masterpieces by Frédéric Chopin and César Franck—music of poetry, passion and extraordinary colour that sits at the very heart of our Ooh là là! theme.
You’ll also hear Daniel later in the Festival as pianist for Chants d’Auvergne, Joseph Canteloube’s luminous celebration of the folk songs and landscapes of rural France.
A weekend of French-inspired music wouldn’t be complete without one of Australia’s foremost pianists.
We’re delighted Daniel will be part of this year’s Festival.
